What a weekend! Kylli staff celebrated Halloween with the Santa Clara community on Saturday at the Mission College Monster Dash & Bash 5k Walk/Run Fundraiser. Over 500 race participants had the opportunity to test their endurance, enjoy some friendly competition, and make lasting memories.
We were proud to serve as a sponsor for this spooktacular event that raised crucial funds to support student scholarships. Our staff ran in the race and hosted a space with family-fun activities including an interactive art station where children had the opportunity to make postcards.
The funds raised on Saturday will help provide financial assistance to Mission College students. While it’s far less expensive to attend community college than a four-year university, community college still remains out of reach for many students without the help of a scholarship. A significant number of Mission College students are also former foster youth, veterans, homeless, food-insecure, or face some combination of these challenges. Many are major contributors to their household budgets or the first in their families to attend college. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 and help alleviate some of the financial burden students face so that they can focus on their academic and long-term career goals.
Community support is the driving force behind the success of events like this. It’s heartening to see so many local businesses joining hands with Mission College to make a difference in the community. Kylli deeply believes in contributing to the communities it operates within. Being part of local events that bring the community together is just one way that we can support the residents of Santa Clara. From the Parade of Champions and the Santa Clara Arts & Wine Festival to the 4th of July All City Picnic and the Santa Clara Library Palooza, we’re proud to be part of so many local events that celebrate our vibrant city.
